After staying in a moldy apartment, the owner messaged me on and asked me not to leave a review and “he ok wouldn’t leave one on me.” I’ve been sitting on this for a couple of days. I think I’m going to put in my profile something about my struggle with mold to try and offset anything he says. Has anyone run into this?

I had an AirBNB person threaten me with that also. She had knowingly left a urinated mattress in the place. People can be so gross

Wow. So sorry. I would leave honest review & let the place know he intimidated. If we stay silent, nothing will change. It's not easy but it's worth it. Do you have proof of the mold? If so, have no fear.

If it was Airbnb, they write their review before they get and read your’s. I recently had a similar situation in another country. No visible mold but I was slammed but it. I think I was tactful in my review, pointing out all the good features (well stocked, great location) and then went on to say that for people like me who are sensitive this place was problematic. So you all know who you are and would avoid this place. Non-moldies will be fine.

The vrbo we stayed in lately was so musty especially in the bedroom and I’ve been messed up for weeks bad. I have not been sure if to leave a review mentioning this or not. None was visible just super musty and obviously an issue.

definitely leave a review. I am in a moldy apartment right now. It’s such a mess and my apartment people are not cooperating so we’ve been having to deal with legal counsel now so definitely leave a review. Don’t let others get sick from this. There are more and more people getting sick from mold and we need to help them.

Don’t let him bully you. It doesn’t matter what he makes up about you, if he has mold in the apartment that is an issue that has nothing to do with you and how DARE he threaten you while putting others at risk, by covering it up. If mold wasn’t an issue he wouldn’t be asking you to hide it. I’d blast it!

Please write a review and share it, there are many people like myself who will waste their money if they rent it. I am so activated by mold I had to leave a rental within an hour of arriving and it’s so overwhelming when renting to wonder if I will be ok with the air quality.

Sadly, leaving bad reviews can backfire. I've known people who have been made unable to make further reservations because they left a truthful negative review about lodging.

I would report that to Airbandb, that is intimidation
