Dealing with Mold Exposure in Dallas Hotels and Housing

Yeah...Dallas is really bad for mold in Hvacs. Unless the building is 2 yrs old or less. People in this chat are saying that it's fine but when you go to restaurants, when you go shopping and you go to other people's houses you'll be exposed to mold in their hvacs so it really depends on how sensitive the person is. I can't do Dallas at all... it destroyed my life. I was so severely poisoned from the stuff in the hvacs there. It was a total nightmare. And it's consistently one of the top cities for the most Mold.

I live north of Dallas and do fine. I’ve been able to heal here. The Prosper/Celina area is growing and has a lot of new builds.

I do well at Drury Arlington or Frisco, not Richardson location. Tru in Frisco around the corner from Drury. There’s a bigger Home2Suites in Plano/Richardson area, and Grapevine/Coppell area & Grand Prairie by the police station

I personally did terribly in Dallas. May I ask why you're considering moving there specifically?

We did great at SpringHill Suites by Marriott at the McKinney location. It’s new and I checked the wall AC and it didn’t have mold. Super clean. Slept really well and didn’t have any symptoms for my one week stay on two separate occasions. We are also soon checking out of a Airbnb apartment that is new and furnished and had a great experience too. We did not do well at anything older than a few years old and had to get refunds twice due to mold in air ducts.

I’ve been and had a great time. I’m in McAllen right now and found a great hotel. I ask ChatGPT to find me the newest build in the area I am going and I’ve had great luck with finding safe hotels that way. You can go in and check the room first.

I just stayed in an Airbnb in Collinsville that I didn’t react in. Not sure if that’s too far for you?

I would say also check the area you're considering when you get that far and make there is no data centers proposed or on hold. Best to find a County that has banned them. They are building these in N GA 150ft from people's homes and schools. Its nuts.

I live in Dallas and it is where I actually started having my mold issues. However, I would say it’s extremely house dependent so if you have someone that understands and can help you through the process (seems like M. left you a contact which is great), you should be ok!

I’d go with hotel over Airbnb. Ive had plenty of good ones around here (dallas and frisco/plano. When they’re bad they just let you leave. Airbnb wants the full booking pay no matter what and are highly likely to have mold due to the way we build.

I recommend you AVOID living in Dallas. I am currently living & healing in Croatia after I escaped Dallas where I had been severely poisoned by toxic mold through the hvac system in my apartment. It destroyed my life. In my years of research I found out that Dallas was the number one city in the US for mold insurance claims. It destabilized their insurance market in the early 2000s. More than half of the buildings are water damaged and people rarely clean the hvacs. It's a total nightmare plus you have bad air quality, bad ozone, extreme pollen and no real breeze to come and clean the air. You'd have to live in only brand new buildings and only shop in brand new stores... nothing more than two years old. Also it's a hard place to heal once you get sick. I recommend you research how insurance companies started dropping Mold coverage and the reasons why. Everyone I know who moved to Dallas developed allergies they never had before because they became inflamed from breathing in the mycotoxins from the hvacs, unfortunately..

I stayed at a Hampton Inn in Irving/Dallas last November. It was 701 West Airport Freeway/Irving Hwy 183. I had no problems, no reactions. We were only there 2 days but they air was good for me while there
