  Iceland was GREAT - they had heated floors and 90% keep the windows open. Clean water, air, food. I adored it.

  It’s all relative. I find Spain and Italy and some parts of the UK hard. But honestly, the building practises are better. They don’t build out of wood. There’s less hidden insulation and generally I do think it’s much better. Also at a certain price point in Latin America. It is also better any place that builds with cement and does not have HVAC systems. I find better yes there’s mould everywhere but the United States I find to be some of the worst in the entire world.

  It’s an issue everywhere. You have buildings with plumbing and environments where it rains. So you’ll have mold issues. I’ve had problems in the UK, Ireland and Singapore.

  In the past two years I’ve visited Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, Amsterdam, London, Switzerland, Denmark and Australia and I would say that I’ve encountered it at about the same rate as the US. With due diligence I’ve managed to avoid it at many hotels but have also had problems at others (all higher end). I often noticed it in cultural attractions like cathedrals and museums.

  As an add on; if you like mountains, it's a good idea to go Alps (1600+m) Outside humidity there rarely exceeds 40-60%, which means the external humidity factor is already covered.

  I’ve consulted with many people struggling with mold in Europe. The UK and Germany seem to both be challenging. Lots of mold in Dubai as well, interestingly. In Italy they wipe visible mold off the walls as part of ordinary housekeeping… nobody really thinks about it. Close friends of ours moved there a few years ago and joked that we’d be horrified, lol.

  It’s definitely everywhere. But I’ve done a lot better finding a place in Cabo, Baja Sur California, Mexico. There’s definitely mold here, but you can clean it up a lot easier and have more control with brick and cement, and no central air.
