  Please please leave a review with these places and let a manager know. We have to make ourselves known in these cases. I can't tell you how many times I bring about these concerns and they say they've never even heard of that before. Please leave a review so other people can know how toxic it is there. Only reason to be that fragranced is to cover up something

  It didn’t used to be like that at the Element Sedona one of Element’s prides is being fragrance free so I wonder where that went awry. Did you let management know?

  I always check trip advisor reviews for "fragrance" "scent" "smell" "perfume" "smoke" "mould" "mold" You have to do each hotel separately. Then you have to search the reviews for each word separately. For many places people will say things in the reviews like "it smelled like flowers as soon as I stepped in the door". You know it has significant fragrance of some sort from those reviews. If all those search terms result in zero hits I send the hotel a detailed email asking about a list of specific items. I also call. You can't just ask "do you have fragrance", you have to break down each kind and how they'd be using it. It's basically impossible to find any hotels without HVAC fragrance and / or candles and diffusers

  I had a very good experience at the courtyard Marriott in Sedona, but that was 4 1/2 years ago, so I can no longer vouch for it 100% unfortunately. I will say that it was a great hotel though, with fabulous views, and we really enjoyed our stay.

  I feel like people have gone crazy with fragrance! I can’t even order things from Amazon because they spray literally everything and not just clothing items… everything has this same horrible perfume smell.

  I have been in there and didn't notice that. Maybe it's new. I don't like the Element because it's the only modern architecture in the Village and it's ugly compared to all the Southwest style buildings. Sorry you had that experience!

  Same! I actually called in advance and was told there were no fragrances used. When I arrived I smelled it immediately and they acted completely shocked when I told them. They kept insisting nothing was used. The ultimate gaslighting experience.

  I'm so upset Marriott is just trying to sell their "signature" fragrances by brand. Not all have hotels them, but you never know which will and it makes traveling super stressful now. And they don't even smell good. I'd sit in an Abercrombie any day over that awful smelling stuff they put in their lobbies. The Townplace signature reek is absolutely awful. I went back to traveling with my Honeywell purifier. Its giant. But can make it tolerable after 5ish hours.
